Two years ago, I started North Richmond News after a bit of badgering from John Murden, who founded the oldest of Richmond’s community news weblogs — Church Hill People’s News — several years earlier. I’m now passing the baton to John Murden, Ross Catrow and Valerie Catrow; Ross and Val moved into Northside last year, and run RVANews in their spare time.

North Richmond News has been a great way for me to connect with the community, and to think about the bird’s eye view of my immediate neighborhood. I’ve learned a lot about the people and businesses that make up Northside, and gained a lot of appreciation for the distinctions between the various neighborhoods and communities the bump into each other north of Broad Street.

I’ll still stay busy with Buttermilk & Molasses, but the joys of raising a toddler and starting my own business have forced me to prioritize my time.

John, Ross and Val will bring a lot of energy and consistency to North Richmond News, and I’ll continue to stay in touch with my neighborhood here.

Thanks for a great ride. See you around the ‘hood.
