Henricus Historical Park Will Present Origins Of A Free America: The 1619 Assembly

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Experience life in 1619 Colonial Virginia during Origins of a Free America: The 1619 Assembly at Henricus Historical Park, July 25,10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Living history interpreters will discuss the Great Charter of 1618 and how it would have affected all the residents of “Henricus Island,” as it was called then. Visitors can meet Master Thomas Dowse, first representative from Henricus to the 1619 General Assembly of Virginia at Jamestown, and ask him questions regarding his first journey to the assembly in July 1619. The program will feature interpreters portraying soldiers, planters, tradesmen and servants of the year 1619 and what the Charter meant to the Henricus settlement.
