Henricus Dauber Dash To Be Held August 22

May 18, 2009 For immediate release CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County is partnering with the Richmond Sports Backers to present the Henricus Dauber Dash on Saturday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. The Henricus Dauber Dash will be a mud run which will be held in Henricus Historical Park and the Dutch Gap Conservation Area. Named for the daubers who built the mud walls and houses at the settlement site 400 years ago, the run features a 4.5-mile course that starts at the Citie of Henricus and goes around the trail loop of Dutch Gap. The course incorporates multiple obstacles designed to challenge the participants’ stamina and includes a final mud pit at the finish line in the park’s scenic overlook of the James River. There will also be a Mud Guppies Kids Run for runners aged 8-14 held on a shorter course with their own obstacles. The kids run will finish through the same mud pit as the adults. All participants will receive an event T-shirt and post-race recovery food. Prizes will be awarded for the overall male and female winner, as well as for individual age categories. There will also be awards for “Best Mud,” “Best Reenactor” and “Best Costume.” Mike Golden, director of Parks and Recreation for Chesterfield County, says, “We are working to grow sports tourism in the county and are proud to showcase the unique sites of Henricus Historical Park and Dutch Gap Conservation Area. In 2011, the Citie of Henricus will celebrate its 400th anniversary.
