Henrico Police have arrested a suspect in the case of a woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted as part of an attempted carjacking on December 30th. Just after 10:00 p.m. that night, a 20-year-0ld female walked to her vehicle in the parking lot of the Brookhollow Shopping Center, located in the 11200 block of West Broad Street.

As she sat in the driver’s seat of her car, with the door ajar, a white male forced his way into the vehicle, demanding the keys and the car and reportedly grabbing her in her genital area.

The subject grabbed and pushed the victim while she was in her vehicle, but she was able to fight her attacker off and escape by way of the vehicle’s passenger side door. The victim ran inside the Target store to call police.

A citizen witnessed the subject run to a vehicle on the lot and sped from the scene. The victim was not injured.

Henrico Police immediately contacted media outlets requesting assistance in identifying the suspect based on surveillance photos from a nearby business visited by the subject earlier.

Although many tips were reportedly received, the break in the case came when the subject, identified as 38 year old Daniel Wolfrey, responded to the Public Safety Building to inquire as to why he was pictured on the news. After a brief interview, Wolfrey confessed to the offenses.

Wolfrey, of the 4200 block of Holly Grove in Bumpass, Virginia, is charged with attempted carjacking, abduction and sexual battery.
