High school graduates this year will be able to share their special day with family and friends who can’t be at their commencement ceremonies this year, thanks to technology. Henrico County Public Schools has announced that, for the first time, it will offer live streaming online videos and live TV footage of high school graduations.

A link will be provided to the live streaming online videos on the HCPS website. Television-viewers can tune in to HCPS-TV locally to watch graduations as they occur (Comcast channel 99 and Verizon channel 38).

Short Pump area graduations are occurring June 14th-15th this year. Deep Run’s commencement ceremonies will be live streamed and televised June 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. and Mills E. Godwin’s will take place on the 15th at the same time.

There will be no re-broadcast of these events in total nor will any of the footage be for sale or available for copies.

This year, the graduations of Henrico’s comprehensive high schools will take place at the Siegel Center.
