Gun fight on 37th Street

Around 3:12 p.m. Friday, May 27, Richmond Police received a report of occupants in two vehicles firing gunshots at each other traveling in the 800 block of North 37th Street. Responding officers found a male on North 37th Street with a gunshot wound. He was not an occupant of either vehicle and was not an intended target. The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Although the shooting occurred a block away from Franklin Military Academy, no students from the school are involved. The incident occurred after school had dismissed for the day.

Richmond Police detectives are questioning several individuals regarding the shooting but have not developed suspect information or a motive at this time.
