Two snapshots in time of last night’s art walk.
First from the Times Dispatch
During the Art Walk.
The First Fridays Art Walk was back in business, and the mood was mellow. About halfway through (7:00 pm), pedestrians comfortably filled the sidewalks along Broad Street in downtown Richmond’s cultural district.
… galleries had a steady stream of visitors through their open doors on the mild October night. Restaurants did brisk business.
Police officers patrolled on foot with little to do other than direct traffic so that pedestrians could cross more easily at intersections with no traffic lights.
The second from myself.
After the Art Walk.
Things didn’t seem quite so mellow later on. I took a stroll down Broad after 9:00 pm. Here’s what I saw.
- Lot’s of teenagers, not mobs, but groups of 3 to 10.
- One large group of preteens, 25 to 30, with no adult in site.
