Family members and nearby shoppers detained a man over the weekend who attempted to abduct a 4-year-old girl at the Innsbrook Shoppes around 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Police say the man attempted to abduct the child as she was getting into a car at the shopping center with two adult family members.

The alleged would-be kidnapper is identified as 46-year-old William Scott Baker of the 3000 block of Dunwick Road. Baker was expected to appear in court sometime on Monday.

Family members and shoppers helped detain Baker until police arrived on scene. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Baker was, along with attempted abduction, charged with three counts of assault and public drunkenness.
