The former Circuit City store at Short Pump Town Center may become an electronics store once again. Indianapolis-based hhgregg, who owns and operates 108 stores in nine states, is considering expanding into the Richmond market, according to sources familiar with the company. The retailer is eying three out of the six available former Circuit City locations across the Richmond area, and is said to be especially interested in the Short Pump store.

The Richmond stores, if the company expands into the market, would be the first in Virginia for the retailer. Not only is hhgregg considering taking over the old Circuit City locations, but they also offer $50 off a purchase of $299 and up for Circuit City gift cards or credit cards. The company employs around 3,100 people and reported revenues of $1.1 billion in 2007.
