The plan to expand the East End Landfill has been approved by the Department of Environmental Quality.

The East End Landfill or “TEEL” can now quadruple the amount of trash it receives. Despite DEQ’s willingness to allow the East End Landfill expansion, the organization has experienced a rocky history with the local landfill. The dump has had numerous violations that are still in the process of being rectified. Only months ago the DEQ issued the dump with a 35 page order filled with violations.

Some of the violations include the height and degree of the landfill slope and taking in tires and contaminated soil without the proper permits.
