A line of severe storms swept through the area Wednesday evening, bringing strong winds, heavy rain, hail and lightning to Short Pump. Just after 5:00 p.m. a house in the 11700 block of Park Forest Court, in the Park Forest subdivision of Wyndham, was struck and caught fire.
Henrico Fire crews arrived on scene within minutes according to neighbors, and had the blaze under control in under a half an hour.
Smoke could be seen for several miles down nearby Nuckols Road as flames poured from the roof and attic areas of the home.
One resident and three dogs escaped safely according to neighbors on the scene.
