Do you think the James River Park biking and hiking trails need more signage and trail markers?

I was recently riding the miles of excellent mountain bike trails at Angler’s Park in Danville in Southside Virginia and was impressed with several things I saw, including these brown rubbery signs. They had stickers identifying the trails and directions and connections between them.

Perhaps Richmond does not need to have signs to direct trail users through various trails crossings — as I witnessed in Danville — but it may help educate the users on where they along the trails and to help navigate the many exit and entry points to the JRPS loop.

Trail markers are something that many fire and emergency medical services responders have asked for, especially to assist people who call for help to be able to more easily describe their location.

However, this would be an added cost to an already strapped park budget and could disrupt the nature experience that many enjoy on the trails.

Where do you stand? Does Richmond need to add trail markers?
