Developer Thomas A. Wilkinson, III is proposing to redevelop industrial/warehouse space at the corner of Market and Hinton Streets into up to 120 conventional 1- and 2-bedroom apartments.  As an early step in the development process he has submitted a petition requesting amendment of the zoning designation from M-1 Light Industrial District to R-5 Multiple Dwelling District.

The 2.05 acre parcel of land is located at 201-225 Hinton and the change in zoning will facilitate redevelopment of the property. According to Wilkinson rents will range from $700 per month for a 1-bedroom up to $1100 for a 2-bedroom.  A public hearing will be held at the Peterburg Planning Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, June 2 at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 135 North Union Street.

Information about the petition may be examined at the Department of Planning and Community Development in City Hall, Room 304, between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday or by calling the Department at (804) 733-2308.
