Deep Run Marathon Dance Raises $133,000 For Local Charities

Deep Run High School held its third annual 27 hour Marathon Dance this past Friday and Saturday, raising a total of $133,887.63 for 13 Richmond area charities. The dance was a joint effort of students, parents, faculty, local businesses, and the community. Events at the dance included contests where students were encouraged to dress up as their favorite fictional character and themed parties such as a toga rave, complete with hundreds of glow sticks, strobe lights, and techno music.

The funds raised by the dancers will be distributed equally between the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Richmond Hope Foundation, Connor’s Heroes, Central Virginia Food Bank/Meals on Wheels, Children’s Miracle Network, Virginia Chapter of the Lou Gehrigs/ALS Association, Wounded Warrior Project, Tuckahoe Little League Challenger, Bethel Fresh Start, Habitat for Humanity, Safe Harbor Shelter, and Camp Wanna Cure.
