Richmond ’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities is offering a new three-week intensive drawing class set to music.

The class, “Creative Art at the Carillon,” will be taught by Richmond artist William “Blue” Johnson at the Carillon War Memorial in Byrd Park . The class will blend melodic sounds with creative visual influences.

Students in the class will draw using pen and ink, charcoal or pencil while experiencing live music played by local musicians. Light refreshments will also be provided.

The class, which will be held May 4, May 11 and May 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Carillon, is limited to 15 students, and costs $60 plus a $5 musician’s fee per class. Non-city residents pay an additional fee.

Students are asked to bring their own drawing paper, supplies and easel, although some supplies and easels will be available if needed. To register, call 646-3674.
