Community Emergency Response Team Course Starts June 2
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County’s Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, program will hold its second training course of the year beginning June 2. The eight-session course will be held the evenings of June 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23 and 25. The course provides citizens with basic emergency-response skills to help themselves, their families and neighbors during that critical time before professional emergency providers can arrive. Veteran emergency-services instructors will provide hands-on training in such critical areas as disaster preparedness, fire safety and suppression, basic emergency medical skills, search and rescue techniques, and disaster psychology. There is no charge for the program, but participants must be at least 18 years old and in reasonably good health. The CERT course will be held 6:30-10 p.m. each evening at Chesterfield County’s, Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center, 6610 Public Safety Way, Chesterfield, VA 23832. The course is limited to 24 participants. A registration form can be downloaded at www.chesterfield.gov/cert/. The registration deadline is May 28.
