Colonial Downs plans to open its ninth off-track betting facility in Innsbrook on Wednesday. But unlike any in the past, the new one won’t be in a standalone location, but rather in a restaurant. Finn McCool’s Irish Pub, to be exact.
The location, in the Shoppes at Innsbrook at Cox and Broad, got unanimous approval from the Virginia Racing Commission Tuesday and is currently being outfitted with televisions, an ATM and other equipment to allow restaurant patrons to bet on races. The facility, in the rear of the establishment, will be open just ahead of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
The betting facility would only operate during normal pub business hours.
