After researching PPN’s archives (including comments), and attempting to reintegrate myself into the area, I have found truth in what I suspected five years ago as an Old Towne resident and business owner: The citizens of Petersburg are a unique, diverse and needy (yes needy) group of people who sincerely want to contribute to and improve their community. They care about their city, schools, government, economy and, above all, each other. Although opinions may differ and tempers may flair, it is for the greater good. The venting that occurs through the expressive vehicle of writing (or typing) serves as a catalyst for change, accountability, and a call to action.
Therefore, citizens of Petersburg, I call you to action.
The Petersburg People’s News strives to be an instrument of and for the community. We need contributors. We need ideas. We need variety. WE NEED YOU! There are so many areas that need coverage and so many people immersed in these areas. You know who I’m talking about – teachers, pastors, business owners, bureaucrats, politicians, musicians, architects, builders, lawyers, doctors, students, stay at home moms, stay at home dads, teenage girls AND boys….. and the list goes on and on.
The areas that come to mind, although not absolute, include:
Real Estate
Home Improvement
Dining
Movie Reviews (we already have interest in this one and I will be in touch at some point)
Sports
Gardening
Fashion
Architecture
Politics
So I encourage you contact me at info@pburgpn.net. I will put you in touch with one of our IT persons extraordinaire for training and you’ll be on your way. Don’t disappoint me. I’ve spent the last five years in a community that can’t hold a candle to Petersburg, and all I could do was brag about you.
