One of the best aspects of Olde Towne is the entertainment.  On any given night one might find live music at half a dozen venues here.  And Petersburg gets some extremely talented acts.  This weekend featured performances by world renowned smooth jazz artist Jim Adkins.  Songwriting genius Dewey Via played a two night stand at the Dixie Diner.  Zach Artis laid down his amazing guitar skills at Wabi Sabi.

And Olde Towne also frequently enjoys performances by buskers.

This term denotes an artist who plays on the street for passers-by.  They frequently have a hat or guitar case that gets them tips from people who are enjoying the music.  The High Street Lowlifes could frequently be found playing in the area, distinguished not only by their unique roots stylings, but also by their elegant and/or vintage attire.  Buskering is good for the community.

Unlike the bums who panhandle in many cities, street performers actually add to the experience of coming out in Olde Towne.  The right of free speech and Petersburg’s artist-friendly community keep them coming back.  This weekend one of our contributors happened by a fellow who was playing on the corner of Sycamore and Old.  He had a sort of a Springsteen quality to his music with some Allman brothers flavor and perhaps a touch of Hank Williams III.  If you recognize this fellow from the youtube video, post it in the comments section.
