It has been a great process of visioning, exchanging ideas, and meeting together to explore what we want in our community. We are at the point where we are beginning to put together work groups around major themes that have emerged from the visioning, the interviews, conversations, and meetings.

Organizational Structure
Eight broad themes have emerged from the interviews, small group conversations, visioning and design days:

(1) Education, (2) Economic Development, (3) Housing, (4) Services, (5) Legacy, (6) Workforce Development, (7) Environment and Infrastructure, and (8) Culture, Parks, Programs, and Activities. The final plan will also detail short, medium and long term strategies in each of these areas (see time line below). It will be very specific.

A work group is being set up around each of these broad themes. These eight work groups will feed into a steering committee that will shape the overall process. Each work group will need a leader/chair and a representative on the steering committee (these could be the same person).

At this stage we are gauging interest. Please email or call and let me know if you see yourself serving on a specific work group, on the steering committee or helping on a more short term basis. We need as much help as possible. If you see something on this list that makes you passionate, then please contact me. We would love to have you on board.

We would like to see each work group having 10 to 15 people on it, so please continue to forward me the names and contact information of people you know who may want to be involved. If you have any ideas of people to contact, please let me know. We had planned to have a community celebration in December during the second week, but we feel that we have to give a bit more time to get the work groups and the steering committee organized. The time line below will give you a better idea of how things are planning to unfold.

Upcoming Dates:
December 3rd: Draft plan sent to initial steering committee members for review
December 9th: Evening: Potential Steering committee meeting to provide feedback
January: 1st meeting of work groups and steering committee, work groups begin working on small projects, and steering committee begins developing the early action grant process.
February: Community Celebration

If you need to contact me, please do. My office number is (804)864-5797, and my email address is jason@nrccafe.org. I hope you will be a part of this exciting opportunity for our community.
