The 144th Commemoration of the Battle of Old Men and Boys will take place on Tuesday, June 9 at 5 PM at Historic Blandford Church in Petersburg.  A 45-minute cemetery tour will begin at the Blandford Church Reception Center at 3:30 PM and will feature the personal stories of citizens of Petersburg whose lives were changed forever as a result of the June 9, 1864 battle.

All events are free to the public and seating in the church will begin at 4:15 PM.

Mark Summers of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation will speak on the topic, “June 9: Defending Petersburg Yesterday and Today.” The Reverend Harvey Joyner, pastor of the First Congregational Christian United Church of Christ in Chesterfield will preside as chaplain and Miss Caitlyn Blackwell will be the event soloist. These events are sponsored by the Ladies Memorial Association of Petersburg and the City of Petersburg Museums.
