As most of you know, I have been trying to pull together a project based on the history of Battery Park and the surrounding neighborhood. While I have had some success I still need more about the history of the people who live(d) in the area post-WWII through the present. This project was originally conceived as a part of the grand re-opening on June 20, but since then has developed into an idea of creating something that can be available to us and others beyond June 20.

With that in mind, you have an opportunity to be a part of this creation. On Sunday afternoon June 7, an informal group will gather at the Battery Park House (Stone House) from 4 to 6 to discuss our memories of “the playground” and living in the area surrounding Battery Park. On the day of the grand reopening (June 20), I will host a “Memory Lane Chat” where I will present what we have collected so far and continue our discussion.

Please join us on Sunday June 7 at 4 and/or Saturday June 20 for the grand reopening. Bring your photographs and stories and become a part of this chronicle. If you are not able to make the June 7 discussion, but would like to participate before June 20, please give me a call at 307-5444 or send your photographs (in the park or at related events) and stories to me at this email address.
