A new festival is bringing arts and culture to Short Pump this weekend. The inaugural Heart the Arts Fest will take place this Sunday, June 26th on the streets of West Broad Village from noon until 5:00 p.m. The event is the first joint effort of The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen and the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s Short Pump location following their partnership announcement last month.

Old Brick Road, West Broad Village’s “Main Street,” will be shut down to allow for a variety of activities throughout the afternoon.

Attendees can enjoy sneak peeks into Art Classes for Teens and Adults from the Cultural Arts Center and Art Workshops and camps for kids provided by the Children’s Museum of Richmond.

There will be lots of live music, dance demonstrations, and more provided by the Cultural Arts Center, as well as food and merchandise for purchase by neighboring businesses such as Whole Foods, The Sweet Spot, REI, LaDifference, Keagan’s, French Boutique, Silver Parrot Boutique, 3 Sports, Kona Grill, Aloft and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

The Tail Wag’n from the Richmond SPCA will be on site as well as Strange’s, who will offer planting demonstrations.

Demonstrations from local artists will include Matt Lively with Squiggle demonstrations, mural demonstrations with local artists Ed Trask and Caroline Schallmo, a blacksmith demonstration with Daniel Boone VII, cookie decorating with Confectionery Arts instructor Ann Spark and special art activities from Young Rembrandts.

The Children’s Museum will offer hat and paper lantern making classes as well.

Fun outdoor games will be going on throughout the day, such as three legged races, hula hooping, a crazy hat contest, a watermelon eating contest and more.

Downtown Short Pump is proud to be a presenting sponsor of this great cultural festival right here in Short Pump.
