To the VCU and VCU Health System communities,

Richmond Police and the VCU Police Department apprehended three men and one woman suspected in three armed robberies in the city last night, including one on the VCU Campus. These swift arrests within hours of the crimes send a clear message that VCU Police will not tolerate crimes against its community and will aggressively pursue anyone coming to our campus to cause harm.

Again, safety is our top priortity at VCU and we will continue our aggressive efforts to keep our campus out of harm’s way.

Press release from the Richmond Police Department:

Within one hour of three downtown robberies last night, Richmond Police and VCU Police officers made arrests.

Between 9:45 p.m. and 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, a man robbed three people at gunpoint in the 400 block of Goshen Street, 700 block of West Clay Street and the 1000 block of Grove Avenue.

Victims gave police a good description of the robber’s getaway vehicle, which was spotted and stopped by Fourth Precinct Officer Nicholas Stirrett about an hour later near Bellevue and Chamberlayne Avenue.

After further investigation by VCU and Richmond Police detectives, three people inside the vehicle were arrested and charged with one count each of robbery in connection with the Grove Avenue robbery. More charges are pending. Those arrested were: Tyrieff Howard, 18, of Henrico County; Harold L. Cox Jr., 18, of Glen Allen; and Tyquisha Q. Carter, 18, of the 2100 block of Pinetree Drive.

Jyquon R. Jackson, 18, of the 800 block of Edgehill Road, was arrested this morning and is believed to be the one who committed the robberies while the other three are accomplices.
