In recent weeks there have been reports of animals acting erratic or strange by residents of the Museum District. In light of these reports the MDA would like to remind residents to have their pets vaccinated against rabies on a yearly basis, especially for those pets kept outdoors.

Please be mindful when coming into contact with animals (domestic and otherwise) that you do not personally know. If your pet is attacked or bitten by a wild animal, report it to the Virginia Department of Health and Richmond Animal Care and Control. In situations where you observe an animal exhibiting abnormal or odd behavior you are asked to contact Richmond Animal Care and Control at 804.646.5573.
