This double house at 1312-1314 Oakwood Avenue, listed as one of Church Hill’s 10 Most Blighted Houses in 2010, was purchased by William and Dorothy Joyner 10 years ago for a total cost of $10,000 ($6,000 for the left side, $4,000 for the right). The city currently assesses each side at $36,000, for a total of $72,000. I called the number listed, the older-sounding man who answered the phone says that he has no set sale price on the houses but will entertain offers.
A neighbor says that the properties have sat vacant and in poor condition for years, and that it doesn’t appear that there is any intention of renovating them and that “despite the for sale sign … they are not entertaining realistic offers”.
The Joyners live in a wooded suburban neighborhood in Henrico in a 3058 square foot single family home valued at over $200,000.
The Joyners own 7 properties in close proximity in this neighborhood:
- 1312-1314 Oakwood Avenue
- 3316-3318 Q Street
- 3316 P Street
- 1610 N 35th Street
- 3309 P Street
