Sunday, September 11, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM

2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  The September 11 National Day of Service is a federally-recognized initiative that calls upon the nation to pay tribute and honor those lost on 9/11 as well as the rescue and recovery workers that served in response and the military personnel who rose in defense of the nation.

Volunteers will be painting over graffiti in the abandon hydroplant on Belle Isle and providing general litter pick up. This work requires the ability to work in an outdoor wooded environment, the ability to walk approximately ¼ mile to the site, and possibly climbing on ladders. Bring water, work gloves if possible, and wear clothes appropriate for painting.

Volunteers will meet at the information kiosk in the Tredegar Street parking lot at 500 Tredegar Street.  Youth volunteers ages 9-15 may participate when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
