ASK, Assistance, Support and Kindness for kids with cancer, is hosting its 5th annual 5K walk/run that circles Short Pump Town Center on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The event aims to celebrate the courage displayed by our local children battling cancer.

The race will take place on the ring road surrounding Short Pump Town Center and wind through the adjacent Towne Center West development near the Short Pump Hilton Hotel & Spa and end at the mall’s main plaza where participants can enjoy free food samples, live music from The Jangling Reinharts and children’s activities.

All proceeds from the event will benefit children fighting cancer in the Richmond area and support ASK’s services for them and their families. At press time, more than $100,000 was already raised.

The event begins Saturday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m. Packet pickup and registration can be done the morning of the race, but participants may sign up early at Saxon Shoes on the upper level of Short Pump Town Center on Friday, April 23.

A video of the event put together last year by race organizers can be seen below.
