All aboard for the 36th Annual Model Railroad Show at the Science Museum of Virginia this Thanksgiving weekend – Friday, November 29-Sunday, December 1!

Explore over 20 wonderfully conceived neighborhoods, intricate scenery, big trains and miniature cities. Weekend activities will also include live science demonstrations, Railroad Jeopardy and performances by the Carpenter Science Theatre Company. Stop by the Boost! gallery to sample seasonal and healthy holiday snacks.

Enjoy exclusive tours of the luxurious Car ONE and self-guided tours of several other historic train cars. While you are outside visit a pair of Clydesdale horses, reminiscent of those that hauled supplies before trains were around. Join blacksmith Gerald Boggs who will be forging items out of railroad spikes allowing you to take home a piece of railroad history.

Trains have also rolled into The Dome with Rocky Mountain Express and The Polar Express. Rocky Mountain Express follows the epic adventure of building a nearly impossible transcontinental railway through Canadian Rockies. Our holiday tradition, the timeless classic film The Polar Express will also be showing daily.

The Model Railroad Show is included with exhibit admission. Tickets are $11 with $1 discounts for ages 4-12 and 60+. Showtimes can be found, along with a detailed schedule for the weekend, at www.smv.org or by calling 804.864.1400.
