A message from FDA President Betsy Coffield:

Dear Fan Residents;

As the VCU student migration, move out/in takes place for the coming school year, the Fan district has seen some significant amounts of bulk trash being left in our alleyways and on sidewalks. I spoke with James Jackson yesterday, our new head of the Department of Public Works, and he is working with us to try and control the onslaught of trash.

As of today, all DPW bulk pick up trucks for the city have been diverted to the Fan, in order to clean up what was left over from the past week. Please be aware that they will be coming down the alleys and searching the sidewalks for large items including sofa’s, chairs etc. to haul away.

If, in the future, you notice large items being placed in the alley or sidewalk, please do not hesitate to fill out a Citizen’s Request form. which can be found on the City’s website at www.richmondgov.com. The City will pick up bulk items AT NO CHARGE. Just fill out the form online and the items will be picked up with one week.
