The Rundown

After three consecutive home games in five days, the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams hit the road to face the Towson University Tigers. After starting the first half of the CAA season 7-2, the Rams will hope to pick up another W against, arguably, the worst team in Division 1 basketball.

The Team

It needs to be said…Towson is terrible. The Tigers have lost their past 40 games spanning a period of time longer than a year, and they are now three time members of Eamonn Brennan’s Bottom 10.

That being said, the Tigers only lost 57-50 at #24 University of Virginia. This could be the most nerve-wracking game for the Rams or it could be an absolute blowout.

The Star

Robert Nwankwo is the closest thing the Tigers have to a star. He is scoring 11.2 points per game and is an impressive rebounder/shot blocker. He averages more than four offensive rebounds per game which might give the Rams trouble, but that number could be bloated by the Tiger’s horrendous shooting percentage.

Towson profile

  • Location: Towson, MD
  • Conference: CAA
  • All time series: VCU leads 16-1
  • Last meeting: VCU won 80-76 at Towson.
