VCU homecoming on Friday will close a few streets
The parade closures will be relatively brief while the block party/tailgate will be most of the day.
Virginia Commonwealth University will host its fourth annual Homecoming Parade on Friday, Nov. 13. The parade is expected to have 25 groups, 17 vehicles, two floats and approximately 400 participants.
The first two street closures of the day will begin at noon near VCU’s Stuart C. Siegel Center. They are:
- West Marshall Street between Norton and North Harrison Streets.
- North Harrison Street between West Marshall and West Broad Streets.
VCU will host a tailgate party in this area following the parade and these areas will be closed until approximately 11 p.m.
For the parade, VCU Police will have brief road closures starting at 4 p.m., and officers will escort participants along the parade route. Closures for the parade are expected to be in place for approximately 30 minutes.
This year’s parade participants will stage on the 1000 block of Floyd Avenue. From Floyd Avenue the route will proceed north on North Harrison Street, west on Broad Street, north on Bowe Street and east on West Marshall Street, where the parade ends near the Siegel Center.
No parking areas (with posted signage) will be enforced on the 1000 block of Floyd Avenue for the parade and the 1200 and 1300 blocks of West Marshall Street for the tailgate party.
