VCU falls just short against #13 Alabama

The VCU Rams led until 4:37 remained, leading throughout the game by as many as six points, yet lost a heart breaking road game to #13 Alabama on Sunday night. Despite youthful mistakes and poor shooting, the Rams brought to the court an energy not seen since last March in the Final Four.

The game was much closer than the 72-64 score suggests, and the 64 points scored by VCU is the most points scored against Alabama’s stingy defense all season.

Alabama’s head coach Anthony Grant coached the Rams from 2006-2009, including two trips to NCAA tournament and a victory over Duke. After losing in the NIT finals last year, The Crimson Tide returned a talented and physical team that is worth keeping an eye on come March.
