That Aaron Corp continues to be a guy

Stop me if you’ve heard me say this before: Aaron Corp has a good shot at playing in the NFL. Even though the Spiders aren’t tearing up the wins column, their QB continues to put them in a position to win.

However, things are not looking good for the Spiders. Losing to Towson–the only CAA team not ranked in the top 25 at the start of the season, a team that hasn’t beaten the Spiders since 2007–could be a harbinger of things to come. Sure, it was a close loss to a ranked team (Towson came in ranked 25 and left ranked 17), but it left Richmond staring down the barrel(?) of a 3-3 record. Not Good.

But if you disregard the 31-28 loss as time expired, there are some positives…I swear! How about this: Corp went 31-34 (91.2%), setting the single-game FCS pass completion percentage record. Or this: Corp threw for a career-high 353 yards (two TDs). “Dude can ball,” as they say.

Walking away with a loss, knowing the following, is crazy:

Richmond out-gained Towson 459-424, held a six-minute advantage on time of possession, was nine-of-12 on third down conversions, did not punt and did not allow a sack.

Up next for the Spiders is a hot Maine team, a team that just shutdown JMU in overtime in Harrisonburg. Not Good.
