Squirrels swept by Rock Cats

The Flying Squirrels (59-63) dropped back to 4 games under .500 after being swept by the New Britain Rock Cats (37-87). In the series opener, again going for his 10th win on the season, Daryl Maday continued to struggle and took the loss after giving up 6 runs in 3.2 innings.

The Squirrels drop 3 straight to close out their games with the otherwise woeful New Britain Rock Cats, head out for last games in Bowie for 2010.

New Britain’s Chris Province flirted with a perfect game through the 7th on the way to a 3-1 victory. The Squirrels out hit the Rock Cats 12-9 in the final but still fell short in the 7-6 loss. This is the first sweep of the Squirrels since the visiting Harrisburg Senators took 3 straight at the Diamond in early June.

Richmond stops for 3 at Bowie (65-58) before coming back home for 3. These games at the Baysox are the last of the season in Bowie for the Squirrels, though Bowie comes to the Diamond for a 4-game series to end the season.
