Squirrels head for Altoona

The Squirrels (4-3) won their first series of the season, taking 2 of 3 from the (hated) Bowie Baysox (2-4), though 2010 all-star pitcher Daryl Maday picked up the loss in Wednesday’s day-game at the Diamond.

The Squirrels (4-3) won their first series of the season, taking 2 of 3 from the Bowie Baysox (2-4), though 2010 all-star pitcher Daryl Maday picked up the loss in Wednesday’s day-game at the Diamond. The Squirrels now head out for their first road trip of 2011, a 4-game series with the Altoona Curve (3-4).

The Curve, Western Division regular season champs last year, are coming home off of a split series at the Erie SeaWolves and a pair of losses on the road to the Akron Aeros. A few players to keep an eye out for on the Curve are catcher Tony Sanchez, outfielder Starling Marte, and pitcher Bryan Morris (1-0, 1.74), all top prospects in the Pirates’ system.
