Spiders Take Towson to the House
It was a day of firsts and broken records at Robins Stadium as the 16th ranked Richmond Spiders toppled the Towson Tigers 28-6 in the first Homecoming game on campus.

- Sophomore FB Kendall Gaskins recorded his first 100-yard rushing game
- Sophomore Kicker Wil Kamin booted a career-long 45-yard field goal to remain perfect on the season (6 for 6)
- Senior LB Eric McBride started his 50th consecutive game, the longest streak in CAA history
- Freshman RB Jovan Smith scored his first career rushing touchdown

Fourth-string true freshman QB Montel White relied on the ground game to contribute 237 yards and two touchdowns to his 73 passing yards and one touchdown. Kendall Gaskins and Jovan Smith combined for 176 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Despite missing ten starters due to injury, the Spiders were surprisingly in synch.
As if the Spiders weren’t unstoppable enough on offense, the Tigers never freed themselves from the Spiders’ defensive web. Their sole touchdown late in the 3rd quarter couldn’t make up for two lost fumbles and two interceptions. They also fell victim to what may soon be a curse on visiting teams in Robins Stadium: opponents are 0-4 in field goal attempts for the season.
The win lifts the Spiders to 4-3 on the season (2-2 against CAA opponents) and will hopefully provide the momentum needed to take on 6th ranked Villanova on the road next Saturday at noon. The schedule remains tough as JMU and Rhode Island visit Robins Stadium before the season ends on the road at William & Mary.
