Run with the Rams at the Broad Street Mile

Street festival with a 5K Run and series of one-mile fun runs.

The VCU Broad Street Mile combines a street festival with a 5K Run and series of one-mile fun runs on the city’s major thoroughfare, Broad Street. In addition to providing a fun, festive event, the VCU Broad Street Mile provides a turnkey fundraising opportunity for local community organizations. We are excited to introduce the VCU 5K which is a new addition for 2014!

Broad Street will be transformed into two areas, a running course and festival. The running course will feature the VCU 5K to kick-off the event, and five themed one-mile races that start at 20 minute intervals. The FREE festival will feature live music, food trucks, local vendors, kids activities and a new RVA Sports Zone featuring the Richmond Flying Squirrels and other local professional sports teams. People are encouraged to come enjoy the festival even if you are not participating in one of the run/walks.

This is all going down on Saturday, September 20th, starting at 10:00 AM and lasting until 2:00 PM. on Broad Street between Belvidere and Hermitage Road.

For entertainment you’ll be hearing the following:

  • 10:10 AM Emma Davis
  • 10:30 AM Photosynthesizers
  • 11:30 AM Downbeat Switch
  • 12:30 AM Black Girls

If you want to actually run there’s the VCU 5K, Spirit Mile, No Limits Mile, Window World Kids Mile, and Fido Fest Doggie Dash. Registration, race details and costs can be found at the official website.
