People love a good Then and Now, which is where we started with this feature. What a wonderful idea, we thought. We’d get old photos of VCU and Richmond basketball players, coaches, and facilities! Then we’d pair them up with a corresponding modern day photos! It’d be grand!

Well, that didn’t work out.

But! Somehow, we found ourselves buried in photos of dudes shooting hoops in the iconic short shorts of the 70’s and 80’s. Rather than deny you this, we present to you five old-timeyish pictures of your Rams & Spiders getting it done.

  1. Good article. Although I think the problem with Then and Now wasn’t that it just wasn’t “working out”; people seemed to like it (the linked article has 16 comments) but offered suggestions to make it better. It seemed to be a fairly well liked feature.

  2. @Will Oh! That’s not what I was saying at all! I *loved* the original Then and Now. In fact we’ve got another one planned. The one that didn’t work out was a basketball focused Then and Now.

    Sorry for the confusion!

I was there as a cheerleader at those games with Edmond Sherod and Danny Kotak. Look at those legs!

  4. @Ross Ah, okay. That’s great to hear, I’m looking forward to it!
