Monument 10k results

Over 40,000 people participated in the 13th annual Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k on Saturday. Only one second separated the first and second place finishers!

On Saturday, 38,685 runners participated in the 13th annual Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k. Julius Kogo, 27, of Kenya took first place with a time of 28:18. Kogo finished just one second ahead of fellow Kenyan, Pius Nyantika. The first female finisher was Ogla Kimaiyo, 24, also from Kenya, with a time of 32:25. Full results are available online.

David Hofe, 48, from Chesterfield won the Dash for Cash challenge. Hofe was randomly selected from over 26,000 registrants and given a 2.4-mile head start, based on his past race results, before finishing ahead of the elite runners to win the $2,500 prize.

The top three male and female finishers that live and train in the Richmond region were also awarded prize money:

  • Jon Molz (31:31)
  • Guy Alton (31:37)

Women

  • Julie Patterson (35:12)
  • Morgan Denecke (38:09)
  • Katie Sperry (38:12)

In addition to the 10k runners, 1,585 children, aged 5 -12, participated in the Kids Run.

    For reference, going 28:18 in a 10k requires knocking out roughly 4 minute 32 second miles.
