Kickers Prediction Game of Awesome Round 14

Prior to every home game a panel of so called experts will predict the outcome of the Richmond Kickers game. Each expert receives 1 point for each correct prediction. At the end of the season the winner gets a trophy and pack of gum.

This Saturday at 7:00 PM the mighty Dayton Dutch Lions roar into town. I’m trying to make this team sound good and it’s a hard sell. Dayton’s record currently is 6-15-3 and Kickers are 13-1-9 after another win last week and sit 1 point behind first place Orlando but Orlando has two games in hand. The danger for Richmond is they’re too busy looking forward to their last home game against Orlando next Saturday and don’t give the kitty cats their full attention.

Game preview and link to buy tickets here. Saturday is Family Fest, in which you get an entire family with your ticket at least I think that’s the way it works. Alternatively, Family Fest might mean that for a measly $10 purchase one ticket before 6:30 PM and gain admission for the entire family. Oh, and there will be a moon bounce and other fun for the kiddos including a train ride.

Prediction Reasoning Score

RVANews Soccer Guru

Richmond-Kickers-Logo Dayton has allowed 49 goals in 24 games, so on the plus side we could see a good number of goals but conversely they’re playing much better on the road. My personal theory is that they play better when folks are watching which doesn’t often happen in Dayton. Their average home attendance during the 2014 season is 490. 9

Red Army

Richmond-Kickers-Logo This is the biggest game ever until next week when Orlando comes to town for the biggest game of the season. I feel strongly that this week’s goal for the Red Army should be to come up with a song in German for Sascha. How hard could that be among a group of mostly non-German speaking, slightly to moderately drunken fans? Oh, and Deli breaks the USL Pro single season scoring record too. 4-0 Kickers 11

Richmond Kickers

Richmond-Kickers-Logo I have never been a fan of lions. They just aren’t my thing, and to top it off, are there lions that are Dutch? That doesn’t make any sense, so I guess that would mean that there shouldn’t be any reason why the Kickers don’t walk away with 3 points. 9

Richmond-Kickers-Logo Kickers win. I’ve never been so certain of anything in my life. And I’ll go one better: George Davis IV will score against his old team. 9

RVA News Soccer Guru (Richard Hayes): All of Richard’s soccer knowledge comes from playing FIFA on the original Playstation and standing in bars, drinking, and yelling at the television. He also helps run RVA DCU and American Outlaws Richmond Chapter, which mainly involves drinking and yelling at televisions.

Red Army (Matt Myers): Matt was sent off by Leigh Cowlishaw in a summer camp scrimmage as a pre-teen but has not held that against the team. He’s coming to grips with being a relatively old man now after seeing the youngsters in the Red Army and on the Kickers roster. He’s also attended way more matches than he should admit to, especially for having lived in Richmond a total of one out of the last 13 years.

Richmond Kickers (Kickeroo): The Kicker from down under. He doesn’t really like anyone who isn’t a fan of the Kickers. A daredevil who will pretty much try anything and everything but would rather not talk (on the advice from lawyers) about the incident with the scooter and the Flaming Hoop of Death. He’s also sensitive marsupial who enjoys long walks on a dew covered soccer field and watching the sun set behind the goal post. He also shares something with the new Kickers beer, Kick it Hunny: Hops.

Total Soccer Show (Daryl Grove): Daryl is English so every thing he says about footsoccerball naturally carries more weight because he says it a British accent. He is also part of the excellent local radio show and podcast Total Soccer Show that keeps track of all soccer related things in an intelligent and fun way. If you’re not listening to the Total Soccer Show you need to change that post haste.
