Kickers Prediction Game of Awesome Round 12

Prior to every home game a panel of so called experts will predict the outcome of the Richmond Kickers game. Each expert receives 1 point for each correct prediction. At the end of the season the winner gets a trophy and pack of gum.

This will be the largest attended game of the year for the Richmond Kickers and while I’m happy for the organization I feel for the players. They are out there playing for Richmond throughout the summer and deserve our city’s support on all the days that they take the field.  If you love the sport you can help it grow by being in City Stadium during the regular season games.  In the simplest of terms, Support Local Soccer.

This will be the Kickers third game in seven days and Crystal Palace is still in pre-season mode so I’m expecting to necessarily see the beautiful game on display. The will be a large crowd as ticket sales have already surpassed 5,000. Average attendance for the Kickers this year is in the 2,500 range.

draw I’m surprising even myself with this prediction and going with a draw. This will be Crystal Palace’s third game since July 23rd, that plus a hot August evening spells a listless and tired bunch of Brit’s. The problem with my prediction is that Kickers are coming off league games which are more taxing but I know the Kickers players will give it their all and want to show these Premiere League players a thing or two. 8

Red Army

Crystal_Palace_FC_logo_(introduced_2013) I’ve been to London a couple times. The only palaces I’ve seen are definitely NOT made of crystal. Just sayin. I imagine that their team will be excited to reach the Mecca of their tour and see what true supporters look like. Also, their coach’s son plays for Orlando, so there’s an easy reason to hate a completely irrelevant team. They’ll still win though :( 4-1 Palace 9

Richmond Kickers

Richmond-Kickers-Logo It’s pretty cool these guys are coming here all the way from England. This is going to be a fun time, but I am REALLY hoping they don’t try to stop the game for tea time. Tea is good and all, but maybe those English are just a little too into it. All the more reason why the good guys will not be so friendly in this friendly and get the win! 8

Total Soccer Show

Crystal_Palace_FC_logo_(introduced_2013) Daryl was recently abducted by a pack of sentient feral cats and taken beneath Mayo Bridge. He learned their ways and has changed his name to Sir Fluffybottom McTwiddle. We sent a team of specialists beneath the bridge and were able to trade four cans of tuna for and insanely large hairball and the following message. “God Save the Queen. The Palace is made of Crystal, diamond is a crystal, diamond can’t be broke. Tunaaaaaaaaa.” 7

RVA News Soccer Guru (Richard Hayes): All of Richard’s soccer knowledge comes from playing FIFA on the original Playstation and standing in bars, drinking, and yelling at the television. He also helps run RVA DCU and American Outlaws Richmond Chapter, which mainly involves drinking and yelling at televisions.

Red Army (Matt Myers): Matt was sent off by Leigh Cowlishaw in a summer camp scrimmage as a pre-teen but has not held that against the team. He’s coming to grips with being a relatively old man now after seeing the youngsters in the Red Army and on the Kickers roster. He’s also attended way more matches than he should admit to, especially for having lived in Richmond a total of one out of the last 13 years.

Richmond Kickers (Kickeroo): The Kicker from down under. He doesn’t really like anyone who isn’t a fan of the Kickers. A daredevil who will pretty much try anything and everything but would rather not talk (on the advice from lawyers) about the incident with the scooter and the Flaming Hoop of Death. He’s also sensitive marsupial who enjoys long walks on a dew covered soccer field and watching the sun set behind the goal post. He also shares something with the new Kickers beer, Kick it Hunny: Hops.

Total Soccer Show (Daryl Grove): Daryl is English so every thing he says about footsoccerball naturally carries more weight because he says it a British accent. He is also part of the excellent local radio show and podcast Total Soccer Show that keeps track of all soccer related things in an intelligent and fun way. If you’re not listening to the Total Soccer Show you need to change that post haste.
