Jairus Lyles to transfer from VCU

Freshman combo guard Jairus Lyles is set to transfer from VCU at the conclusion of the semester.

According to a brief press release from the athletics department, Freshman combo guard #0 Jairus Lyles will transfer from Virginia Commonwealth University at the conclusion of this semester.

We appreciate the contributions that Jairus has made to our program this past season. We wish nothing but the best as he moves to the next stage in his career.Shaka Smart

Lyles showed promise during the Black & Gold Tip-Off but rarely saw minutes as he rode the bench behind VCU’s bevy of talented guards. He finished the season with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

He should join Reco McCarter (Campbell), Teddy Okereafor (Rider), and Justin Tuoyo (Chattanooga) as former VCU players with prominent roles on low-major and mid-major teams around the country.

The departure leaves VCU with the maximum 13 scholarship players for next season.
