#1 VCU went 0-2, but it still wasn’t enough for #2 Virginia to take the top stop despite a 2-0 performance this week. With the Rams exiting the top-25, the state of basketball in the Commonwealth is looking rough, and things are unlikely to improve. Virginia and Virginia Tech have played the two easiest schedules in the ACC so far, George Mason has played the easiest CAA schedule, and Virginia’s four teams in the Big South will keep beating up on each other. The bright spots are Richmond and Norfolk State. The Spiders are playing quality basketball despite missing junior Derrick Williams (ankle), and the Spartans are dominating the MEAC.

Thursday night’s quality win over VCU was an amazing moment in Spider basketball history that ended in an emotional rushing of the Robins Center court. Sunday’s loss to UMass doesn’t diminish Thursday’s win, but the Spiders need to drastically improve their FG% on the road if they want to contend for the top of the A-10. Joshua Grice

I don’t think it matters. VCU can win both games this week by significant margins and UVA will probably still make the jump.
