Bradford Burgess, one of the stars of the VCU men’s basketball team that won its way into the Final Four last season, has been invited to the USA Basketball World University Games training camp. He will be one of 22 invitees to practice at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. While there, he will compete to become one of the 12 elected to represent the U.S. at the 2011 World University Games, to be held Aug. 13-23 in Shenzhen, China.

“I’m humbled and blessed to get this opportunity to be among some of the country’s best players and coaches,” Burgess said. “I’m just going to go out there and give it everything I have and hope for the best.”

Burgess, a Richmond-native who attended Benedictine High School, averaged 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds last season for the Rams.

In related news Burgess news, Bradford’s brother Jordan, currently a junior at Benedictine, has given his verbal commitment to attend VCU and play under Shaka Smart when he graduates in 2012.
