ACC & CAA preview, week eight

Wow, my first losing record. I’m going to blame the University of Virginia–AS I DO WITH MOST THINGS IN MY LIFE. Sigh. Going 2-3 puts me at 25-10 for the season. Ugh you guys, this is unacceptable, I will try harder.

Hokies vs. Boston College

HOKIES! Another week, another astonishing (for VT) offensive performance. What is going on with our high-powered, high-octane, ranked 48th in the nation offense? I’ve always said that if Tech could manage 35 points a game we’d never lose–currently the Hokies average 31.1 points a game, and 35.8 if you take out the Clemson loss).

The defense played a heck of a game as well, considering that four starters went out injured during the course of the game. Look, that the defense is still playing at such a high level after losing so many veterans is a testament to Bud Foster. That whole side of the ball is held together with duct tape and spit, and they may cost us a game yet–or they’ll just continue being awesome. YOU DECIDE.

This week the Hokies take on the Boston College Eagles. If you thought the Hokies were banged up, take heart! The Eagles have it worse! Hooray! Even if the Tech offense can’t string together three great games, they should still win. That’s how bad BC looks. It’s pretty bad. Go Hokies!

Virginia vs. North Carolina State

I mean, people. What is going on in Charlottesville? I was sure that the Wahoo’s record was like 0-trillion, but come to find out its 4-2! I so don’t know who to pick in this game. UVA will be riding high after the win over Georgia Tech, but I’m going to say inside knowledge of an Al Groh defense is what got them the win. Wolfpack wins, and in the process does that little doggy hand signal thing.

Richmond vs. Maine

Sorry Spiders, but things just go downhill from here. The extra week off and home field advantage are in the Spider’s favor, but it’s not going to be enough to overcome a Maine team that is killing it (where killing it means finding ways to win). But, I bet Aaron Corp will have a great game, so maybe head on out there and watch the game in person!

William & Mary vs. Towson

Last week I said I would eat a tricorn hat if W&M won, AND THEY DID. Luckily my tricorn is made of chicken wings. This week the Tribe take on Towson whose only loss came against Maryland. I’m going with the Towson somethingsomethings (Tigers, I just looked it up)!

Old Dominion vs. Villanova

The pleasantly surprising Monarchs take on the sadfaced Wildcats in what’s sure to result in another sadfacing of Villanova.
