5 Kickers players win league honors

USL-2 league honors were handed out and our Kickers got a lot of them!

5 Richmond Kickers players were named to the USL-2 First and Second teams and 3 won league awards.  Matthew Delicâte, Ronnie Pascale, Yomby William and Mike Burke were all named to the All-League First Team and Sascha Gorres was named to the All-League Second Team.  Delicâte took top goal scorer honors after scoring 13 goals this season. Pascale won the Goalkeeper of the Year after allowing just 0.9 goals per game for the season. William was honored as the Defender of the Year.

Delicâte was also a finalist for the Most Valuable Player award but that went to Jamie Watson of the Wilmington Hammerheads. Kickers coach Leigh Cowlishaw was a finalist for Coach of the Year but that award went to David Irving also of the Wilmington Hammerheads.

The Kickers host the Charlotte Eagles in the USL-2 Championship game tomorrow night at UR Stadium at 8pm. The Kickers advanced to the final by beating the Harrisburg City Islanders 1-0 last week in a 120 minute overtime game on a goal by Delicâte. This is the 4th time in 5 years that these two clubs have met in the finals.
