West of the Boulevard and Fan Neighborhood Road Condition Crowdsourcing

Which roads are good to go?

The Richmond Snow Plowing Status Map is wonderful in theory. In reality it doesn’t seem to be accurate. I find it hard to believe that not a single route has been completed as shown above.

So let’s find out what’s going on out there and help each other out.

What streets do you know are plowed or treated? I can tell you that that my streets are still a mess and haven’t seen a plow or sand truck. That’s not entirely true a plow drove down our street but didn’t put his plow down so wasn’t very helpful.

In the comments tell us which roads are good to go and if you feel like it vent about the roads that are still snowed in.

Cary from Kroger to boulevard is plowed, one lane.

Grove is pretty much clear. Floyd is a sheet of ice.

  3. Patterson has been plowed, but the cross-streets are all still covered.

Chamberlayne is clear over on the Northside.

  5. Emily on said:

Parkwood off of boulevard and Cary is not touched – same with all the side streets that I could see. Also, what was done to the sidewalks residents are shoveling snow from Boulevard back on to the sidewalks so they look horrible.

  6. Isabella on said:

Patterson ave is cleared at least from boulevard to Belmont. That’s all I can see from my window

Ellwood is “clear” down the middle for one lane. All side streets are a scary mess!

Hanover not plowed – compacted due to what traffic there’s been. Just saw the first city sand truck – gave Hanover a VERY light dusting. Folks have to dig themselves out of parallel parking — blowing snow from the weekend, then melting and refreezing has them locked in. Cross streets worse -less traffic.

Cary Ellwood Boulevard and Grove clear and parked cars buried.Floyd is sanded. No side streets done.

Grove may have been plowed but it’s a nightmare- street parking in the Fan, trying to dig out again and more snow keeps piling on the sides.

Marshall in Church Hill has not been touched…oh wait, that’s not right. GRTC laid down sprinkles of sand after a bus was stuck for an hour.

Kensington one sand truck seen, one minimal plow, Stuart not plowed, nansemond not plowed, Tilden not plowed, roseneath not plowed. Saw at least 4 trucks on Cary street after it was clear. Not our finest moment. Tuesday morning will be impossible on some roads

The Western half of Byrd Park neighborhood is a ice luge. Douglasdale was done as was a block or two of Shepard. From Internet crowd figuring, almost nothing between Cary and the river is done.

I might be the only person hoping they do not plow all of the streets in the Fan. After seeing the mess on Boulevard, I’d rather go slow on the bumpy, packed snow than have more cars and parking spots plowed in.

On Southside, midlothian and forest hill/Semmes are plowed. I think Westover Hills Boulevard is too. None of the neighborhoods are going to catch so much as a glimpse of a plow. I wasnt sure my car would make it on 36th and Peyton yesterday, and most of my neighbors haven’t budged.
