If you’re looking for a way to honor our country’s veterans today, there are a few options for you around town throughout the day and into this evening.

If you’re looking for a way to honor Veterans Day today, here are a few events happening around town…

Virginia War Memorial
621 S. Belvidere Street
10am to 11am

A ceremony will be held in the new Paul and Phyllis Galanti Education Center. This event is family friendly and with free parking.

Benedictine High School
304 N. Sheppard Street
2pm

Anthony E. Dowd, member of the class of 1943, will be the featured speaker at their ceremony, which will also include a veterans troop-of-the-line, and a cadet corps pass-in-review.

World War I Memorial Carillon
Byrd Park
4pm

The program will feature a concert on the Carillon bells by carillonneur Lon Mitchell, presentation of colors by the Huguenot High School Color Guard, vocal selections, and the presentation of a memorial wreath. Retired Navy Capt. Dr. Carroll Londoner will speak on “The Last Mission of World War II.”

Valentine Richmond History Center: ‘I am well and war is Hell’
1015 E. Clay Street
6pm

This isn’t specifically a Veterans Day event, but it does tell the story of Richmond residents who served in the World Wars, as well as those that remained on the home front — a great way to get you thinking about the sacrifices made by those in the armed forces.
