VCU pedestrian bridges coming down, expect delays this weekend
Bridge on the River Main Street.
From VCU:
Two pedestrian bridges constructed by Virginia Commonwealth University for use during the UCI Road World Championships last month will be taken down this weekend. The university has scheduled removal on the weekend to lessen traffic impacts for commuters.
The pedestrian bridge at the intersection of West Franklin and Shafer Streets will be deconstructed on Saturday, Oct. 10. West Franklin Street will be closed between North Harrison and North Laurel Streets between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The second pedestrian bridge on West Main Street, between North Harrison and Cherry Streets will be deconstructed on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; that section of roadway will be closed during that time. Detour signs and no parking signs will be posted in each area; we appreciate the patience of the VCU community and Richmond residents during this process.
